Fabric Fix | When I went here once, there were customers who had travelled 2 hours to get there, and I have to say I think I'd do the same! Excellent prices on great apparel & home dec fabrics - not too much in the way of quilting fabric. There's a bin of fabric you can buy by the pound - it works out to a great deal! Stretch knits galore. You can see the store from the highway (293 South) but it's on a side street and a little hard to find (look for Speedy Lube to find Blaine St). Store hours are limited (M-F 9:30-5, Sat 9:30-1). |
Martin's House of Cloth | Worth a visit! First floor is upholstery fabric, second floor is quilting and apparel fabric. Good selection of all three. They also carry a great selection of patterns, notions, and books. |
Peggy Anne's | Quilting fabric & Bernina machines. Great selection of batiks! |
| Lakes region | |
Keepsake Quilting | If you are in the Lakes region, and you are a quilter, you MUST visit Keepsake Quilting! It's the biggest quilting fabric shop I've ever seen. They also have a great catalog & web site you can order from. |
| Seacoast area | |
Exeter Handkerchief Company | I live around the corner from this store, but I never shop here. It's only upholstery fabric, and it's pretty nice stuff, but it's around $20-$30 a yard on average. Ouch! There is a "bargain" attic - but it's still $6 a yard and I've never found anything I like up there. The store seems to be targeted at people who don't sew and need custom curtains sewed for them. |
The Fabric Garden | This shop is in what used to be the garage of a private residence. The walls are absolutely packed with a great selection of quilting fabrics. They also have classes. Hours are limited (verify before you drive a long ways!): Tues-Sat 10-5. |
Portsmouth Fabric Company | I've found fabrics here I haven't seen anywhere else. Great selection of apparel and quilting fabric, Bernina sewing machines. |
Merri Stitches | Mostly a sewing machine store, but they do have a medium-sized selection of quilting fabrics. (I bought 2 machines here and am very happy with them!) |
| Northern NH | |
Pinestead Quilts | Good quality quilting fabrics - both cotton and flannel. Lots of NH-style prints (wildlife scenes, paw prints, etc.) Notions. They also sell completed quilts and pillows. |
Carol & Co | Decorator fabrics and trimming. Fine interior furnishings and accessories. Interior design consultation. Note: I haven't shopped here yet - please leave a note on the discussion page if you've been here! |
Cut n Sew | Fabrics (quilting, garments & decorator), quilting supplies, yarns, patterns, Viking sewing machines.
