Cambridge
Sew-Fisticated Discount Fabrics Twin Cities Plaza Cambridge, MA 02138 617-625-7996	Located on Cambridge/Somerville line, between McGrath Hwy and Cambridge Street by Lechmere Station. Good selection of quality fabrics at excellent prices. Inventory has quick turnaround, so it pays to check back often. My experience is that many patterns are out of stock. Some are half price, but if you shop around you can find them for cheaper.
Sew Low Discount Fabrics 473 Cambridge St Cambridge, MA 02141 617-661-8361	Huge store overfilled with fabric - so much, in fact, that it's hard to move around in places. I've seen the same inventory sit for several years, and as a result not many new fabrics come in. Patterns are very cheap - because they're discontinued and in heaps at the back of the store. If you like to dig, you might find what you're looking for, but the prices seem a bit high for the quality of the store.
Downtown Boston - Chinatown
WinMil Fabrics 111 Chauncy St Boston, MA 02111 617-542-1815	One of the larger fabric stores in Chinatown, with a good selection of fabrics and patterns.
New England Textiles 50 Essex St Boston, MA 02111-1714 Phone: (617)426-1965	Mix of home decorating fabrics and clothing fabrics, many of which are remnants.
Clement Textile 80 Bedford St Boston, MA 02111 617-542-9511	Smaller fabric store. On occasion, I've found some really great fabrics here.
Windsor Button Shop 35 Temple Pl Boston, MA 02111-1305 617-482-4969	Many, many, many buttons at reasonable to high prices.
There are also a few stores with beautiful silk fabrics that you'll run across in the area. (At one, I had to be buzzed in and out of the store, which is a little intimidating.) The prices aren't that high, considering the quality.
Boston Suburbs
Button Box Quilt Shop 5 Overbrook Drive Wellesley, MA 02482 781-489-6515	I used to come here all the time when the store was in Needham - I haven't seen it since the move, but I can only guess that the store is even better now. Great selection of quilting fabrics, notions, Pfaff machines, and sewing and quilting classes.
Fabric Corner 783 Massachusetts Ave. Arlington, MA 02476 781-643-4040	Good selection of quality fabrics at good prices. Also carries patterns and notions.
Fabric Place Woburn Mall 300 Mishawum Road Woburn MA 01801 (Also, stores in Framingham, Natick, and Newton)	This store has great fabrics, but you should expect to pay a bit more from them. They do have remnant tables you can pick through to find good deals. They have good prices on patterns, and if you catch the sales (sign up for the flyer!) you can save a lot of money. They also have a very wide selection of notions, home decorating fabric, yarn, etc.
